When I was a child my parents never kept any pet longer than two years. We constantly moved and my mother would never move our pets. So when I was in college In the 1970s i got my first dog. I had him 18 years. I loved him so much. I was going to be different than my parents and never give him up. As he aged he developed dementia. I so wish I had had this book to help me. I waited too long to let him go when he was lost in his own mind.I am now a veterinarian. I think this book provides a wealth of good advice and resources for pet owners. Now that I’ve discovered it I plan to recommend it to my clients.
