UPDATE: I passed all four sections! I'm glad I went with this book. I'll look first to this series when I prepare for my other tests. This series has been recommended by friends in my education program, too.I took this test April 5, 2017, and the math section has definitely been updated since this book was last revised. The test may well have been updated only recently - I wasn't able to get instant scores today, because the Elementary K-6 test is currently considered under revision as of April 1, 2017. I don't fault the book for not being up to date on the math section, but I did want everyone to know.The ELA, science, and social studies sections, though, were extremely consistent with the material in this book, and I was very glad to have made this purchase! I'm a career-changer, interested in work in elementary education. The material in this book was very helpful. The test is a mixture of elementary education content (not as simple as you might think - you have been warned!) and corresponding teaching methods. In the science and social studies sections in particular, there was a strong correlation between the material in this book (including teaching methods) and the material on the test. It was well worth the purchase just for this.All that being said, I didn't feel well prepared for the math section, and that is actually the section of this book I studied most closely. I did well on both online practice math tests. One of my undergraduate degrees is in a math-related area. I was actually looking forward to the math section, because I felt best prepared for it. There were references to several problem-solving methods that weren't familiar after having read this book. They did pertain to techniques I've helped my first-grader with in his schoolwork, so it's clearly up-to-date in terms of the kids' curriculum - but knowing how to help with my son's homework is completely different from understanding the education terminology and rationale for methods like decomposition. (But maybe I missed something in the book!) There was also a lot more calculation than I'd expected. A significant portion of my test (maybe 1/3-1/2 the questions is what it felt like) involved word problems with multi-step computations. I am someone who takes longer than average to complete computations, and I used to always have to not only learn math methods, but also practice, in order to complete tests as quickly as my peers. I am accurate, but slow! If I had known how much computation would be involved, I would have done more practice problems. I completed both online math tests from this book with time to spare, so I was shocked to realize midway through the actual test this morning that I was coming up short on time. Not only did I not have time to go back and check my work, I had to randomly choose answers to maybe four questions, because I didn't have time to complete them. Maybe this was on me!I'm not blaming the book for my disappointing test - and if the test was just updated, it's definitely not this books fault. And, hey, maybe I passed - I don't know, because the test is under review, so there were no instant scores today. And again, the social studies and science sections could not have been more consistent with this book. ELA was pretty close, too. I'm VERY glad I purchased this. The book is well written, well organized, and complete without being overwhelming. For me, it was also a great text to study as a complement to my education coursework textbooks. I got the Kindle version, which was excellent. I do recommend getting this book - just maybe take some time to practice more story problems and computation (large-number multiplication, long division, geometry, etc.), and also seek out information about the very latest math methods happening in classrooms.
